The development of non‑invasive methods for selective targeting of tumour cells is an urgent task. The problem lies in the insufficient study of the temporal dynamics of cellular responses and the lack of standardized approaches to optimizing the parameters of magnetic exposure. The aim of the study is to test a developed portable laboratory setup for generating a pulsed magnetic field and to identify the parameter ranges in which a difference in the cytotoxic response is observed, using cervical adenocarcinoma cells (HeLa) as an example, in vitro. The objects of study were human fibroblasts and HeLa cervical adenocarcinoma cells. Exposure was performed using static, unipolar pulsed, and bipolar pulsed magnetic fields. Viability was assessed using a Goryaev chamber on days 1, 3, and 7. Morphology was studied after Romanowsky–Giemsa staining. Statistical processing of morphological parameter changes was performed using the Mann–Whitney U test, n = 3 replicates per group. The nature of the cellular response was determined by the field type, exposure duration, and time from exposure to observation. Preliminary data indicated differences in cellular response: a bipolar pulsed field (5 min) caused HeLa cell death (viability index 1 %) while preserving fibroblasts (viability index 89 %) on day 7. The functionality of the portable setup for generating pulsed magnetic fields with specified parameters was demonstrated. Preliminary data were obtained indicating the existence of parameters (bipolar field, 5 min, 35 mT, ≤10 Hz) at which differences in the viability of HeLa cells and fibroblasts are observed in vitro, providing a basis for further research. The results are limited to the two cell lines used (HeLa and HDF) and cannot be generalized to all tumour or normal cell types without further studies.
