Проведен анализ взаимосвязи структурализма как исследовательской программы и беспредметного авангарда как художественного течения. Продемонстрировано, что структурализм и беспредметный авангард основывались не только на личных связях основателей этих движений в науке и искусстве, но и на общих мировоззренческих предпосылках, поскольку считали системно-структурный метод основным инструментом анализа художественных произведений и культурных феноменов. Структуралисты и авангардисты верили, что художественные свойства элементов и структур можно выявлять и позднее использовать. С системно-структурным методом связывались также особые надежды на создание новых художественных произведений. Показана ограниченность возможностей данного метода и те трудности, которые возникали при его использовании. Структуры и элементы не обладали четко определяемыми значениями и могли быть интерпретированы разными способами. При отказе от задачи установления их значений структуралистские исследования и авангардные произведения теряли свой смысл. Неудача в использовании структурно-системного метода стала одной из причин кризиса структурализма и возникновения постмодернистского искусства.

An analysis of interrelation between structuralism as exploration programme and non-figurative avant-gardism as artistic movement has been carried out. It is demonstrated that structuralism and non-figurative avant-gardism were based not only on the personal relationships between the founders of these movements in science and art but also on their common world outlook prerequisites because the founders considered the systematic-structural method the main implement of analysing artistic works and cultural phenomena. Structuralists and avant-gardists believed that the artistic properties of elements and structures could be uncovered and then used later on. Special hopes were also connected with the systematic-structural method as a means of creating new artistic works. The limitedness of this very method is shown and those difficulties that were arising while employing it are shown too. The structures and elements did not possess distinctly definable parameters and could be interpreted in different ways. Structural explorations and avant-gardist works lost their sense when the task of establishing their parameters had been rejected. The failure in employing the structural-systematic method constituted one of the causes of the structuralism’s crisis and of the appearance of post-modern art.
