Автором предпринята попытка выявить влияние территориального фактора на современное геополитическое положение Российской Федерации. В статье анализируется процесс территориального формирования Российского государства со времени его образования до наших дней. Производя такой анализ, автор выявляет периоды ускорения и замедления роста государственной территории Руси-России. При этом он обращает внимание на торможение процесса территориального увеличения Отечества в XIX веке. Особое внимание уделяется последнему периоду развития России – в прошлом и начале нынешнего веков. Методологической основой анализа автор избрал цивилизационный и циклический научные подходы. На основании выполненного обзора им делается вывод о том, что, с одной стороны, пик геополитического могущества России в целом уже пройден, но, с другой, в рамках общего, длинного цикла ее развития происходит смена частных, более мелких под-циклов. По мнению автора, Российское государство в настоящее время находится в начале стадии роста очередного подобного под-цикла развития.

The author tries to identify the impact of territorial factor on modern geopolitical position of the Russian Federation. The article analyzes the process of territorial formation of the Russian state from the time of its formation to the present day. Producing such an analysis, the author identifies the periods of acceleration and deceleration of growth in the national territory of Russia. At the same time he draws attention to the braking process of the territorial enlargement of the Fatherland in the nineteenth century. Special attention is paid to the latest period of development of Russia in the past and the beginning of the present century. Methodological basis of the analysis the author has chosen civilization and cyclic scientific approaches. On the basis of the review they concluded that, on the one hand, the peak of the geopolitical power of Russia, in general, has already passed, but on the other, within the overall, long cycle of its development there is a change private, smaller sub-cycles. According to the author, the Russian government is currently in the early stages of growth such under-development cycle.
